Some quotes on seasons and rhythm:
"When all the world appears to be in a tumult, and nature itself is feeling the assault of climate change, the seasons retain their essential rhythm." — Anonymous
"Life is filled with rhythms—day and night, hot and cold, summer and winter, spring and fall, cloudy and clear." — Anonymous
"Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of the earth." — Henry David Thoreau
" To everything there is a season, a Totime for every purpose under heaven." Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
For Spiritual Journey Thursday, Ramona asked us to write about our rhythms. It’s fitting as September marks the beginning of the four “BER” months. I’m watching the shortening of the days, the cooler mornings. Last week as I sat on the deck for an online class, I realized it would be the last class on the deck because it was dark when it ended. Yesterday, the rain brought its petrichor smell. Heavenly. I love the seasonal rhythms. Soon, I’ll start the mornings with a fire and tea.
I’m noticing a rhythm with the sales of Tilt. It’s slowed down a bit. I’m not concerned. It will reach the readers it needs to reach. I’m figuring out ways to promote through social media such as “Where in the World is Tilt?” (If you have a photo, please send it to me.)
I’m getting ready to promote classroom visits. I love talking about writing to students and inviting them to write. I love providing opportunities for writing in the community. I’m working on a new collection of adult poetry about my first marriage. I’m looking forward to creating some art pieces for it.
These are the places that keep me in rhythm: nature and creating.

Yes, our mornings have turned chilly and I've taken to greeting dawn under a quilt inside. We may get one or two more before Autumn shows up. Meantime, I am inhaling the crisp, cool days.
Like well-oiled machinery, seasons change and we change along with them. When we keep pace with the rhythm of these changes, things tend to run smoothly. As your quote from Thoreau says, we need to live in the season, not the past or not the future. Here and now is where we are. Bob
